The Aigle men's page brings together the French brand known for rain protection: long or short parkas with MTD or Gore-Tex membranes, recycled Repreve quilted jackets, water-repellent jackets with a velvet collar, foldable RainPack 70, Warm90+, sleeveless fleece, merino jacquard sweaters, hats and wool hoods.
The story of Aigle begins in 1853 when American Hiram Hutchinson buys a patent from Charles Goodyear and sets up a rubber boot factory near Montargis. He names his production "À l'Aigle", in tribute to the American eagle.
The brand is first known for its boots, before it outfits everyone facing the rain and cold.
The parkas Aigle, long or short, with a hood, protect against cold and damp days. Two membranes coexist: Gore-Tex, a market leader, and MTD, developed by the brand. Both keep water out while letting moisture escape.
The MTD quilted parka uses Repreve, a recycled polyester made from plastic bottles.
The water-repellent jacket with a corduroy collar recalls country jackets. The Warm90+ with a hood and the Gore-Tex jacket are designed for heavy rain. The RainPack 70, which is foldable, fits into a pocket.
The jacquard sweater in blended merino wool brings a warm pattern for mid-season. The wool beanies, in Fair Isle jacquard, and the balaclava complete the winter gear. The sleeveless fleece goes under a jacket.
Both membranes provide comparable protection against the rain. The choice mainly depends on the fit, length, and weight of the clothing.
A khaki or navy parka pairs well with jeans and boots for work, while a jacket with a velvet collar works with chinos and a sweater. The Aigle wardrobe transitions from country to city without changing outfits.
Wash membrane clothing without fabric softener and reactivate their water-repellent quality with an appropriate treatment. Wool should be washed in cold water and dried flat.
For outdoor gear, check the page Aigle outdoor and the sections outdoor jackets and outdoor shoes. Other brands can be found in men's clothing by brand.
